Khayrbek Complex
Emir Khayrbek Complex in Cairo dates back to 1521 when Emir Khayrbek, former governor of Aleppo under Sultan Al Ghouri, defected to the Ottoman side and became the governor of Egypt under Selim I The complex is centered around Khayrbek’s mausoleum and mosque which is a mix of Mamluk and Ottoman architecture and also there are another mosques in cairo such as Mosque of Mohemmed Ali which is a beautiful example of ottoman architecture and Mosque of Sayyidna Al Hussein which is one of the most important islamic sites and Al Azhar Mosque Egypt which built in 970 AD as the heart of the new fatimid city and Mosque of Qaitbey which built in 1474 and Mosque of Islam Al Silahdar which is near bab el mahruq entrance of al azhar park
Around these main buildings are other connected buildings including the 13th century Alin Aq Palace and Ottoman houses. The mosque’s brick minaret is built on a Pharaonic stone with hieroglyphs, adding to the site’s historical value.
