Mosque of Qijmas Al Ishaqi

Built in 1481 by Prince Sayf Al Din Qijmas, this beautiful mosque is one of the best Mamluk examples in Cairo. Above a row of shops, the facade and minaret are so famous they are on the LE50 note and there are also another mosques in cairo such as Mosque of Mohammed Ali which is a beautiful example of ottoman architecture and Mosuque of Sayyidna Al Hussein which is one of the most important islamic sites

Architectural Point

The plain exterior hides a treasure. The multicoloured marble above the door is stunning. The exterior is simple, the interior is intricate there are also Al Azhar Mosque Egypt which built in 970 AD as the heart of the new fatimid city and Mosque of Qaitbey which built in 1474
