Mohammed Ali’s Harem Palace turned National Military Museum
Once Mohammed Ali’s palace of pleasure, this historic site is now home to Cairo’s National Military Museum. Closed for restoration when we last visited, it may have reopened by now as it’s very popular with school groups and there are also another museums in cairo such as Cheops Boat Museum which is at the south of Great Pyramids of Khufu and Museum of Modern of Egyptian Art which located in beautiful gezira exhibition
The museum’s plush carpeted halls have dioramas of key moments in Egyptian military history from ancient times to the 20th century wars with Israel. Initially fun with its kitschiness, the exhibits are a sobering look at the country’s military past. Next to it is a cafe where you can sit and contemplate after viewing the museum’s interesting exhibits and Museum of Islamic Ceramics and Police Museum which is inside the old prison building of the citadel and Postal Museum what is old fashioned two rooms museum and Carriage Museum which has many carriages
