"First Library has opened in luxor"
The latest project from Professor Kent Weeks and the Theban Mapping Project is the first open library in Luxor This free service has general books in Arabic and English and a vast collection on archaeology and related conservation topics Evening lectures are also available you can book and visit it through Luxor Day Tours and there are also another landmarks in luxor you can visit during your stay there such as Valley of the Queens which is at the southern end of the theban hill side and New Gurna and Medinat Habu which is fronted by the sleepy village of kom lolah and backed by the theban moutain and Luxor Museum which has an amazing collection of antiquities from the end of old kingdom to the mamluk period

Open to all the library is used by local archaeologists and guides school children (as there is no other library for them) and residents from nearby villages Recent additions to the collection are books on diet and prenatal care for local mothers.
